SAAMA 2026 Awards

SAAMA is proud to recognise excellence and leadership in asset management across Southern Africa. The SAAMA 2026 Awards celebrate individuals and organisations who have demonstrated innovation, impact and commitment in advancing the discipline of asset management.

Four awards are open for nomination in 2026. Applicants are welcome to submit more than one application or the same application to more than one award, where applicable.

Awards Categories

Recognising organisational innovation and excellence in asset management.

This award recognises innovative asset management initiatives that have delivered measurable value through cost optimisation, increased performance and risk reduction. It may relate to a specific project or initiative that has achieved an exceptional asset management and/or maintenance outcome, notable for its eminence, effectiveness, efficiency, ethics, equity and environmental impact.

Examples include planning, operations, construction, information systems, business change, research projects or the implementation of an Asset Management or Maintenance System (or part thereof). Significant attention will be given to originality, contribution to whole-life asset management, risk management, impact on business performance, progress with implementation, integration into business and contribution to asset knowledge.

Submit nomination – Asset Management Achievement Award
Recognising individual impact with typically more than 5 years’ experience.

This award recognises an individual (typically with more than five years’ experience in asset management) who has made a personal contribution to improving their organisation’s asset management practices or to the broader asset management knowledge base.

Specific focus will be given to initiatives identified and implemented, contribution to whole-life asset management, and the development of methodologies or structures that enhance asset management or support the implementation of asset management within the organisation.

Note: SAAMA Council members are not eligible for this award.

Submit nomination – Individual Contribution Award
Recognising emerging talent with fewer than 5 years’ experience.

This award recognises the success of emerging talent (<5 years’ experience) in the field of asset management. The individual may be commencing their career in asset management or working in a new sector.

Special attention will be given to development undertaken in asset management, initiatives implemented in the nominee’s environment, and personal growth and accomplishments in the study and practice of asset management.

Submit nomination – Young Practitioner Award
Recognising exceptional and outstanding contributions to asset management in Southern Africa.

The President’s Award recognises any individual who has made an exceptional and outstanding contribution to the development, embedment and entrenchment of asset management in Southern Africa.

The individual must have made a significant contribution to their organisation or to the asset management knowledge base, demonstrating capacitation, innovation and eminence in cost optimisation, increased performance and risk reduction.

Submit nomination – President’s Award

Nomination Eligibility

  • The nominee, or at least one project team member, must be a paid-up member of SAAMA.
  • For the Young Practitioner Award, the nominee should be not older than 35 years.
  • Nominees do not have to hold the title “Asset Manager” or be part of a formal Asset Management Team, but must demonstrate achievements in the field of asset management. For example, nominees may be engineering students or work in finance or other functions.
  • It is recommended that a Sponsor supports all nominations. The Sponsor is asked to encourage and invite individuals to put themselves forward for recognition.
  • The Sponsor/Nominator should typically be a more senior colleague or mentor with a good understanding of the nominee’s achievements and capability, but is not required to verify specific details of the application.
  • The Sponsor/Nominator does not have to be a SAAMA member but should have sufficient asset management knowledge to complete the nomination form.

Application Process & Key Dates

  • Closing date for applications: midnight on 30 April 2026.
  • Shortlisted nominees notified by: 31 May 2026.
  • Winners announced at: SAAMA’s Annual Conference Awards Dinner on 10 June 2026.
